About Kraljevica
KRALJEVICA, a town and a port in the Vinodol Channel, at the entrance in to the Gulf of Bakar. Situated in the centre of a cove which spreads from Cape Ostro and Fortica to the south-east in a total length of 600 m; the town has developed at the sea coast and on the slope below the main road. The climate is favourable (a sanatorium), the mean temperature in January attains 6C and in July 22C. Kraljevica is a more recent town in the region of Primorje; founded probably in the 15th century. From the end of the 18th century, when a connection to King Charles Road (Karlovac - Bakar - Rijeka) was laid up to the second half of the 19th century it was an important port and marine centre; already towards the end of the 17th century it had a shipyard, and in the second half of the 19th century it became the cradle of shipbuilding industry on the Adriatic. Parallelly it developed into a seaside resort, with villas and hotels. It is located on the main road (M2, E65) Rijeka - Zadar.
